Dr. Félix Lascelles-Palys graduated from Simon Fraser University with a B.Sc. in Kinesiology. He then received his Doctor of Chiropractic and Masters in Sports Medicine from University of Western States in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Lascelles-Palys is certified in Active Release Techniques (ART) and Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehab (FAKTR).
Having been an athlete in several sports throughout his life, a long list of injuries drew Dr. Lascelles-Palys towards the field of rehabilitation and sports sciences. He has worked as a trainer for professional lacrosse, completed multiple sports medicine placements with various high school teams, and interned for 6 months in Washington under the supervision of the Seattle Seahawks team chiropractor.
Dr. Lascelles-Palys has developed an interest and focus on the mechanisms of injury and subsequent rehabilitation involving shoulders and elbows of throwing athletes; building strength and mobility across a variety of sports and; in the unique and complex patient, their variability and its effect on their movements and everyday life.
Dr. Lascelles-Palys sees treatment not only as a way to alleviate pain or dysfunction, but as an opportunity for education, and working out the root cause of an injury to avoid a future re-aggravation. He is a very strong advocate for evidence-based practice, and ensures that his treatment style is constantly reflecting the newest research in patient-centred care.
What Makes You A Pioneer
I would say that I’m trying to pioneer my own style of treatment and rehabilitation, influenced by the true pioneers that have pushed evidence-based treatment and sports medicine forward. Patient education and empowerment is a very important aspect of treatment to me, and my goal is always to get a patient back to pre-injury status or even better than what they were at prior to their injury. My aim is to find the root cause of why your body has created a weak link, and work on strengthening and rehabilitating that, making you more solid than before your injury. Why Chiro
I chose to become a chiropractor because of the scope it provides. The vast amount of tools in a chiropractor’s tool belt provides a fantastic array of treatment options for just about any injury. Funnily enough, when I first started my chiropractic degree, I was surprised to see some of the hurdles that we as a profession still need to overcome, especially as practitioners for something like sports teams - I had always just thought of chiro as a great rehab option. Moving forward in my career I’m very excited to hopefully help change the perception of chiropractic - gone are the days that we’re thought of as only “back crackers”.Interesting Thing About You
